Feeding our boarding and daycare dogs is an important part of our daily routine at Fun City Dogs, and we take it seriously to make sure every dog stays happy and healthy during their stay.

Meal Times

  • Breakfast: 6:00 AM (7:00 AM on weekends)
  • Lunch: 12:00 PM
  • Dinner: 5:00 PM

We ask that all meals be pre-bagged and labeled for your dog. This helps ensure the correct portion is served at every meal. Please send one bag per meal and a few extra in case travel delays affect pickup time. Keeping dogs on their regular diet helps prevent upset stomachs. We also have a refrigerator available for dogs who eat wet food.

When your dog checks in for boarding, we confirm feeding amounts and review any medications. Please do not place pills in food bags. It works best to send medication in its original pill bottle. We organize medications in a day-of-the-week pill container to ensure they are given correctly. If your dog needs help taking pills (peanut butter, pill pockets, etc.), please provide those items.

Although we are a cage-free facility, all dogs are separated during meals so they can eat comfortably and safely before returning to play.

No breakfast for daycare dogs, they are too excited and usually don’t eat right away after being dropped off. Most adult daycare dogs do not require lunch, but we recommend midday meals for puppies under one year old. You can pack their lunch in a labeled Ziplock or small container and your dog can get fed lunch at noon.

During busy holiday or school break periods, dinner service can take up to an hour as we rotate dogs through individually to make sure everyone eats safely and comfortably.

Schedule your dog boarding today!

At Fun City Dogs, the well-being of your dog is our highest priority. Leaving your pup in someone else’s care is a big decision, which is why we are committed to training our staff to ensure safety, attention, and compassion.

One of the ways we do this is through PackPro training, a leading training and staff management program specifically designed for the pet care industry. On a staff member’s first day here, we enroll them in PackPro and they start with a training video and quiz, throughout the first few weeks, everyone goes through and completes the training. It is a combination of videos, quizzes, and hands-on exercises. PackPro has even come out with new modules so we are able to learn even more as an experienced staff member.

Here are some things our PackPro training covers:

  • Canine Behavior and Dog Body Language
    • Group play is a huge part of our facility, so learning how dogs interact with one another to create a safe environment is important.
    • We also focus on group activities, such as Wait at the Gate, Group Sit, and Stay Out of My Bubble
  • Health and Safety Protocols
    • Emergency Protocols
    • Health Concerns to be on the lookout for
    • Basic First Aid
  • Understanding Different Breeds and Play Styles

When you drop your dog off at Fun City Dogs, you’re placing your trust in us—and we take that seriously. By using PackPro to train and manage our staff, we create a consistent, safe, and enriching environment for every dog in our care.

We’re proud of the team we’ve built and the commitment they bring to their work. With the support of PackPro, we’re able to offer more than just a fun day of play—we provide structured, thoughtful care that supports your dog’s health, happiness, and well-being.

Dog socialization is an important part of your pet’s care and happiness. It is so easy to make a daycare or boarding reservation at Fun City Dogs. We do like to have advance reservations for staffing purposes. Since we do have 24 hour supervision of your dog, we need to staff appropriately. You can log into the online portal that you created and make that reservation. Same day reservations are accepted as long as we are not full, if we are full you will be placed on the waitlist.

Although we do not have an app, you can save our website to your phone and treat it as an app. To save a website to an Android phone or iPhone, you can follow these steps:

  1. Open the web browser on your Android phone or iPhone. This could be Safari, Google Chrome, Firefox, or any other browser you have installed
  2. Navigate to the Fun City Dogs website and then click on Current Customer.
  3. Once you’re signed into your account, tap the menu button in the browser. It is usually represented by three vertical dots located either at the top or bottom of the screen. On an iPhone it looks like a box with an arrow pointing up.
  4. From the menu options, look for the “Add to Home Screen” option. The wording may vary depending on the browser you are using. Tap on that option.
  5. After the website is saved, you can access it later from your home screen.

This makes requesting daycare, boarding, or grooming reservations easy. Just put in whatever dates you need, and then wait for a confirmation email from us! In addition to scheduling daycare, boarding and grooming, you can also access your past reservations and invoices. There is also a link to your dog’s report cards for past stays with pictures and videos. Make sure your information and emergency contact is up to date before you go out of town.

Boarding is one of our most important responsibilities. We care for your dogs while you are out of town as if they are our own pets. The biggest difference between us and other boarding facilities is that we have staff spend the night with the dogs. We do not leave the building unsupervised at night. Once the daytime staff cleans and gets the dogs ready for bed, the overnight cuddlers come in and take over. They turn down the lights, set out more beds and blankets, and sit back to read a book or watch a movie. All of the dogs find a dog bed and cuddle in for the night.

The key is to have your dog play and have fun all day so they are tired out and ready to sleep at night. The dogs get to run around and play throughout the day. Yes, they do go outside for potty breaks. Then they are separated to eat their very own dinner. Then get outside and spend a little more time playing. Then they get ready for bed.

So what should you bring?

1. Dog Food

Please pre-bag each meal into individual servings. Place each serving into individual bags. We can also accommodate raw or wet food that needs refrigeration or a freezer. If your dog is a picky eater when boarding, send along something special to mix into the kibble, ex: a can of wet food, chicken, or cheese. You can add a few treats too!

2. Medication

We are able to handle pills, drops or injections. We ask for all medication instructions at drop off. That information will be put into the computer. Be patient with us, even if you have been here before, we want to confirm all medication information every time you drop off for boarding.

3. Vaccines

Upload a copy of your most recent vaccines into the online portal. We will need to see current vaccine records before your dogs can stay with us. We require Rabies, Distemper, and Bordetella. We don’t require it, but we recommend Canine Influenza as well.

Grooming your dog is an essential part of their overall health and well-being. Here are several reasons why grooming is important for dogs:

1. Coat and Skin Health

Regular grooming helps maintain a healthy coat and skin for your dog. Brushing removes dirt, debris, and dead hair from the coat, preventing tangles, matting, and skin irritations. It also stimulates the production of natural oils, which keep the coat moisturized and shiny.

2. Shedding Control

Many dog breeds shed their fur, and regular dog grooming can help control excessive shedding by removing loose hair before it ends up all over your furniture and clothes. This is particularly important during shedding seasons.

3. Preventing Matting

Dogs with long hair or thick coats are prone to matting, which is the tangling and clumping of fur. Matting can be painful for dogs, as it can pull on the skin, cause discomfort, and even lead to skin infections. Regular dog grooming, including brushing and dematting, helps prevent this issue.

4. Monitoring and Spotting Issues

Grooming sessions allow you to inspect your dog’s body for any lumps, bumps, cuts, fleas, ticks, or skin abnormalities. Early detection of such issues enables prompt veterinary attention, which can prevent more serious health problems.

5. Nail Care

Trimming your dog’s nails regularly is important for their comfort and mobility. Overgrown nails can cause pain, difficulty walking, and can even lead to joint problems. Regular grooming includes nail trimming to keep them at a proper length.

6. Ear and Eye Care

Grooming provides an opportunity to clean your dog’s ears and eyes. This helps prevent infections, removes dirt or debris, and keeps these sensitive areas healthy.

7. Bonding Time

Grooming sessions can be a bonding experience between you and your dog. It allows you to spend quality time together, reinforcing trust and strengthening your relationship.

While some dogs require professional grooming services, many dog grooming tasks can be done at home with the right tools and techniques. However, if you’re unsure or uncomfortable with certain grooming tasks, it’s always best to consult a professional groomer for assistance.

According to PetSmart, a recent survey revealed that about 67% of pup parents know dog grooming is necessary for dog health care. That’s why you need to schedule an appointment, like the many pet parents who decide to take their dogs to a professional dog groomer. Call us at Fun City Dogs today to schedule your appointment.

Taking care of your dog is a responsibility you take on as a pet owner. According to the American Pet Products Association, 70% of households have a pet. If you have a dog, here are some of the reasons you may want to use dog boarding services.

Vacation

Dogs need to eat, drink, go to the bathroom, and play on a daily basis. If you’re on vacation, taking your dog to a doggy daycare can be a good way to make sure they’re getting the best care when you’re not around. You can even make sure they’re getting any medication they may need during their stay.

Emergency Trips

You never know when you’re going to have a family emergency or need to take an unexpected trip out of town, and you need to find a safe place for your dog if you can’t take them with you. Boarding services are a great option in case of an emergency.

Business Trips

Do you have upcoming business that you have to travel for? If you have a business trip on the horizon, make sure you talk to local dog boarding services to make sure your dog has a place to stay while you’re out of town.

Socialization

Dogs need to socialize with other dogs, but that’s not easy if you only have one dog or live in a remote area. Taking your dog to a doggy daycare is a good chance to let them socialize with other dogs, which helps keep them happy and builds important skills.

Medical Emergencies

You never know when you’re going to have a medical emergency, but that doesn’t mean your dog has to suffer. If you have to spend a few days in the hospital, you need to make sure your dog has a safe place to stay. Doggy daycare centers are always a safe bet if you want to keep your dog well-fed and entertained while you’re away.

Being a pet parent is a lot of work, especially when something unexpected comes up in your life. The good news is that dog boarding services provide a safe place for your dog to stay no matter what. Contact Fun City Dogs if you need boarding services for your dog!

Are you a pet parent struggling to figure out daycare services? You are not alone. According to a survey conducted by the American Pet Products Association, it was discovered that 70% of U.S. households own a pet. If you are a working pet parent, then you’ve probably found yourself wondering how to ensure your dog doesn’t feel alone when you’re working. One beneficial solution can be a dog daycare that opens at 6 AM. Keep reading to learn more about the advantages of this option.

It’s Convenient for Work

Like daycare for children, many dog daycare centers open as early as 6 AM to ensure that pet owners have time to drop their furry best friend off before their workday starts. When owners aren’t worrying about their pets being home alone, they can better focus on their tasks for the day. Considering that most work days start after 6 AM, this works great for many working pet parents in the area. It is particularly helpful to healthcare workers. Our long hours of 6 AM to 8 PM are especially convenient for the many healthcare and hospital workers in our area.

It’s Safer for Pets

When left alone for long hours, the chances of your pet getting hurt increase. Some owners also worry about their dogs causing damage to their homes while they’re away. Dog daycare that opens at 6 AM is a great solution to these worries. Your dog will be in good hands and you can ensure they’re safe along with your home. Being able to check in on your dog on the webcam really helps with your piece of mind.

It’s Great for Older Pets

If you have older pets at home, then you understand the distinct challenges that these animals face. Some older canines have a hard time with bowel and bladder control, which can become problematic if they are left at home for hours. Some older pets also start to experience separation anxiety and shouldn’t be left for long for their mental well-being. Using a dog daycare for older dogs is a great way to ensure they’re happy and safe all day. At Fun City Dogs, we have trained employees with the dogs 24 hours per day.

If you’re concerned about your puppy staying home alone all day, then consider a dog daycare that opens at 6 AM to help keep your pet safe and happy. Get in touch with our team at Fun City Dogs to learn all about our doggy daycare and to enroll your furry best friend. We can’t wait to meet you and your beloved pet.

Canine Influenza Virus (CIV) is circulating throughout the Twin Cities. Since CIV has not been to Minneapolis in the past, most of our dogs have not built up immunities. It is very contagious and can be picked up with any dog to dog interaction. Surfaces can retain germs from sneezing or coughing for up to 48 hours.  The vaccine for CIV has had recent supply issues but is now more readily available. Please contact your vet to get your dog vaccinated.

We already clean thoroughly daily and follow recommended guidelines. We clean and disinfect the climbing toys, the dog beds and power scrub the floor in each pen daily. We also clean our walls, sanitize the inside and outside dog runs. We have three separate sections of the building on their own HVAC and Airflow.

We monitor dogs on a daily basis watching for illness, including coughing, sneezing, congestion, snotty noses, lethargy, etc. If we observe any suspicious symptoms, we immediately quarantine any sick dogs and contact their owner to pick up their dog. We also ask customers to not bring in sick dogs.  Please make sure you are on the lookout for signs of sickness and keep your dog at home if necessary.

Even with all we do, we have had dogs with CIV come to Fun City Dogs in the last 2 weeks. We have had a handful of sick dogs.

What happens if my dog gets sick?

Contact your vet if your dog begins to show symptoms of Canine Cough or Canine Influenza. For most dogs, it runs its course just like a human cold and typically resolves within 7-10 days, but for some dogs, it can progress to a more serious illness such as bronchitis or pneumonia. Older dogs, puppies, small dogs, and brachycephalic breeds (Bulldogs, Boxers, Pugs, Shih Tzus, etc.) are more at risk of complications developing, but all dogs are at risk of infection when exposed. Please contact us if your dog begins to show symptoms, we are monitoring all sick dogs.

All dogs who have been sick must stay home for 30 days according to the MN Dept of Animal Health. We understand this may be difficult, especially for dogs who only had symptoms (i.e. coughing, sneezing, snotty nose) for a few days, but in the interest of public health, we are requiring these dogs to continue to quarantine as infected dogs (even asymptomatic ones) may still shed the virus for up to 30 days.

You cannot bring any dog to our facility experiencing any symptoms of kennel cough or Canine Influenza. You will be called to pick up any sick dogs ASAP if we observe any symptoms. Each time you drop your dog off, you are reaffirming that they are healthy and are symptom free.

There is a reason why people refer to dogs as their fur babies. Let’s face it, a man’s best friend is a part of the family and sometimes feels like a child. Like little children, dogs may not always take bath time well, as any owner or dog grooming professional will tell you. The pet grooming sphere in the pet industry has increased at a yearly rate of 4.3% over the last five years, resulting in a $9.2 billion growth, according to WebinarCare. With all this experience, they’ve mastered the art of managing when dogs have temperamental moments in the bath. Here are three essential tips for bathing your pup from professional groomers.

1. Get the Right Shampoo

Before you start bathing, check that you have the proper shampoo for your dog. Don’t make the mistake of using human shampoo to bathe a pup. There are special shampoos for dogs, specially meant for their sensitive skin and their canine hair. Remember, dogs also have to deal with fleas and ticks, so getting the right shampoo to deal with those issues is important. The next time you visit a dog grooming professional, ask for their advice on the best shampoo to use at home for your specific breed.

2. Be Gentle and Slow

Be mindful that even the largest dogs may be trepidatious during the initial dog grooming process. That’s why it’s important to be very gentle and start slowly during the bath. Start wetting their body from the bottom up. You want them to adjust to the feel of running water. Make sure the water isn’t too hot; it should be lukewarm. As you apply shampoo, massage it in a circular motion and keep it away from their eyes and ears. Do your best to avoid shampoo near the dog’s eyes due to irritation. Many breeds are prone to ear infections, so be extra careful about getting that area wet.

3. Rinse and Dry

Canine skin is very sensitive, so rinse off all leftover soap residue that may cause irritation or flaking. A grooming professional often uses air dryers at low temperatures. If you’re at home, a regular blow dryer might be too much for the pop, but you can test it out on low to see if the dog is comfortable. Otherwise, start by towel drying, and make sure your dog is completely dry before you let them go back outside.

As any dog grooming professional will tell you, keeping your dog clean is vital to their health and hygiene. Use these tips to wash your dog at home, and contact Fun City Dogs to make an appointment for professional grooming services!

As America’s human obesity problem progresses, we hear less about our canine obesity problem. According to the ASPCA, it’s estimated that 54% of dogs are overweight or obese, compared to the percentage of American adults who also are. Exercise is important for dogs just as much as it is for humans because it makes sure that they have adequate stimulation, socialization, and activity. Let’s take a look at just how important exercise is for your furry best friend.

It Fights Canine Obesity

Dogs need to be taken on a walk or played with to keep them from putting on weight. As dogs tend to be fairly small, between 20 and 80 pounds in weight (9.07 to 36.3 kilograms), every pound of additional weight has much more effect on their health than it would on their human companions. If you don’t have a ton of time to go on walks with your dog, then you can bring them to a no cage dog boarding facility where they can get the proper exercise they need during the day.  Fun City Dogs is a great way for dogs to maintain an active lifestyle, even if you don’t always have the time to exercise at home.

It Keeps Their Joints Active and Exercised

On average, a dog lives 12 to 15 years, according to the Amercia Kennel Club. After age 7, your dog enters middle to old age, which is the age where your dog’s joints are going to get stiffer. The best way to forestall this is to help them get exercise and move those joints and the muscles around them.

It Alleviates Boredom and Improves Mental Health

A dog who sits inside all day is getting bored as its mind is so used to the surroundings. Walks not only helps your dog get out of the indoor environment but also stimulates their mind. Dogs have a chance to examine and experience new things on a walk or at the dog park. No cage dog boarding services expand this as well because their dog yards are set up like dog parks, and can be a great place for your dog to play and run around while you’re away.

It Socializes Your Dog

Dogs are social creatures and need an outlet for their social energies. Not only does exercise give a dog a chance to meet other dogs but also other humans. No cage dog boarding helps too, with doggie daycare where they will get to play with other dogs and caretakers during their stay.

Puppies have a special need for exercise, especially off-leash time. Keeping your furry best friend healthy is something all owners want, and you can do just that by helping them improve their exercise routine. Call our doggie daycare to get your pet enrolled and better socialized and get the exercise they need today.
